Admiral Gorshkov Refurbishment..

In the modern days of multidimentional warfare, developing an effective nuclear triad is very much important for any country to become nuclear deterent.Nuclear weapons paves a way for nuclear deterrence as the former President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Said - Nuclear weapons gives peace, as in this world, strength respects strength.
India already signed a contract for getting the Air Craft Career, Admiral Gorshkov for lease from Russia. Under the current technological advance, many countries like China are developing ASBMs (Anti Ship Ballistic Missiles). When this get inducted to their weapon stockpile, the aircraft carriers become prone to missile attack and the huge amount of money spent by us for the refurbishment of Admiral Gorshkov will be in vain. So one of the most important area where we have to focus upon is, developing ASBMs. India has already achieved far progress in the Interceptor Missile Technology. We have been able to develop PAD and AAD technologies through which we are now able to intercept the enemy missiles in both endo and exo atmospheres.
Strategic strength in weapon systems can be achieved only if we are able to forecast fresh technologies and develop those in the apt time. So taking all these into account, our defence projects should be properly funded and monitored. Top officials should ensure that these are completed in the right time using minimum resources.

  2. I am agreeing with Vijith's opinion. But as we are under technological development, why should we take this huge responsibility or a liability instead of taking a good initiative in indigenous weapon development.. We are not in a technological backward state. India is growing rapidly..we already developed a submarine(Arihant)by our self. So in my opinion, instead of funding on the above mentioned project, we have to take more care on our domestic technologies and become a super power..!! Jai Hind..!!

  3. It is true that the project costs a fortune, But the existing aircraft carrier is in its last legs. India could consider building one along with ASBMs as well. I agree with your opinion that to buy the ship from Russia is an utter waste!
